Fraternity Life @UCI

Why Go IFC?

Fraternities at UCI focus on developing their members personally, socially and professionally. Despite the typical “Animal House” stigma that is associated with Fraternity life, many members focus on relinquishing that and showing the positive impacts that joining a fraternity brought upon their personal life. Although social life is an aspect of fraternity life, it is only a fraction of what fraternity men actually stand for. A few values that fraternity men collectively stand for are below. Sign up here

Leadership

IFC students take pride in their activity on campus and their involvement in not only the IFC community, but the the overall student community as well. IFC offers many different leadership opportunities in their respective chapters and larger scale community positions. Examples of this are chapter executive boards, IFC/Panhellenic executive boards, and various different internship positions.

Scholarship

IFC students take pride in overachieving scholastically. Many IFC chapters boast an average GPA above the all men’s undergraduate GPA. As an IFC, the Vice President of Scholarship sets up study rooms for greeks to use throughout the quarter. Along with this, individual chapters have their own GPA requirements and also set up study rooms for their members, specifically during finals and midterms. Joining an IFC organization allows for students to connect with a vast alumni base, setting themselves up for a professional job in the future. A recent national study indicates that fraternity and sorority members are 28% more likely to graduate than their non-IFC peers.

Service

Every IFC organization on campus conducts an annual philanthropy where they raise money for a charity of their choice. In the past, organizations have raised money for American Heart Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Service for Sight, Make a Wish Foundation, and many more. Additionally, IFC and Panhellenic put together a joint fundraiser for a charity of their choice. Overall, IFC takes pride in its community and strive to help it with these philanthropic events. Last year, IFC raised over $125,000 for various charities.
